Description
The Teltonika RUT951 PoE+ is a compact industrial cellular router with a built-in PoE+ output, designed for outdoor locations and remote installations without a fixed internet connection. Via 4G LTE Cat 4 the router delivers download speeds up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps, complemented by 3G and 2G as automatic fallback. With 2 physical SIM slots and advanced failover logic, the RUT951 PoE+ guarantees continuous connectivity even during network outages. The integrated Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n module with hotspot functionality and support for up to 100 simultaneous connections makes the router suitable as a fully wireless access point on site.
The RUT951 PoE+ delivers a total power budget of 90 W through 3 PoE+ outputs for powering peripherals such as IP cameras, access points and IoT sensors. The router itself can also be powered via PoE+ on LAN1, which simplifies cabling and installation in field deployments. The operating temperature range of -40 °C to 75 °C and an aluminium enclosure weighing just 287 g make the RUT951 PoE+ suitable for the harshest industrial conditions. Extensive protocol support for Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, DNP3 and DLMS/COSEM positions the router as a full-fledged IoT gateway for energy and automation applications.
How does the Teltonika RUT951 PoE+ work in practice?
Industrial IoT and automation At a production facility without a fixed WAN connection, the RUT951 PoE+ provides the cellular backhaul for PLC communication, HMI panels and surveillance cameras through a single compact device. Modbus TCP client functionality reads out sensor values and forwards them via MQTT to a cloud platform or SCADA system. The digital input and output on the power connector enables direct integration with alarm systems and switching automation.
Energy & Utilities At substations, solar parks and wind turbine sites, the RUT951 PoE+ supplies measurement systems, data loggers and communication gateways with both cellular connectivity and PoE+ power. DLMS/COSEM client support enables direct readout of smart energy meters via the TCP protocol. The operational temperature range of -40 °C to 75 °C ensures reliable operation in uncooled outdoor technical cabinets.
Smart City Traffic management systems, digital information boards and environmental sensors are connected to the network via the RUT951 PoE+ without fixed cabling to the location. The PoE+ output powers cameras and sensors on site while the 4G LTE connection forwards real-time data to the city platform. Dual SIM failover with automatic SIM switching in case of weak signal or data limit ensures continuity of critical urban services.
Retail In shops and points of sale without a reliable fixed connection, the RUT951 PoE+ provides the primary WAN connection for POS systems and payment terminals via 4G LTE. The hotspot functionality with captive portal offers managed guest access for customers while the corporate network remains strictly separated. Via RMS, the IT department centrally manages firmware, configuration and connectivity status of all branches.
