Teltonika SWM281
Teltonika L2 managed switch | 24x Gigabit Ethernet | 4x SFP | 56 Gbps switching capacity | 83,33 Mpps | Rackmount
Description
The Teltonika SWM281 is a managed L2+ rackmount switch with 24 gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 SFP ports, designed for environments that require full network intelligence without the need for PoE power delivery. With an idle consumption of only 5,5 W and a maximum of 20 W, the SWM281 offers an energy-efficient managed switch for data centres, server rooms and distribution layers. The non-blocking bandwidth of 56 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 83,33 Mbps guarantee lossless throughput even at full port utilisation. LACP port bundling via 802.3ad, IGMP Snooping and Jumbo Frame support up to 10.000 bytes make the SWM281 suitable for bandwidth-intensive network topologies.
The SWM281 combines advanced L2+ features with dynamic routing via BGP, OSPF v2, RIP v1/v2 and EIGRP for scalable multi-segment networks. Optional Profinet Class B conformance and native EtherNet/IP and MRP support make the switch deployable as a distribution node in mixed IT/OT environments. Port-level security is handled via 802.1x, MAC filtering, RADIUS and TACACS authentication. Supplied as standard with 2 years of RMS cloud access for central management, remote configuration and FOTA firmware updates via a single platform.
How does the Teltonika SWM281 work in practice:
Are you buying the SWM281? Then you get a professional managed switch for complex network deployments. Mount it on a DIN rail in your control cabinet, connect the dual power inputs for redundancy, configure VLANs and QoS via the web interface, and the switch intelligently manages traffic between different network segments.
Retail As a distribution switch in a retail chain, the SWM281 connects point-of-sale systems, back-office servers and security infrastructure in a clear topology. VLAN isolation separates the payment network from the guest network for PCI-DSS compliance without additional hardware. Centralised management via RMS makes configuration changes and firmware updates possible for all locations at once.
Energy & Utilities In the communication infrastructure of substations and metering centres, the SWM281 connects SCADA servers, communication gateways and monitoring systems in a structured topology. Static IPv4 and IPv6 routing enables controlled segmentation between operational and management networks. The low energy consumption of up to 20 W meets the strict power and heat-dissipation requirements of utility installations.
Enterprise networks In the distribution layer of an office network, the SWM281 connects server racks, core switches and workstation floors via 24 gigabit ports and 4 SFP uplinks. LACP port bundling increases uplink capacity and eliminates single points of failure towards the core. VLAN segmentation and 802.1x port access separate departmental traffic and protect sensitive business data at the network level.
Industrial IoT and automation As a distribution node in an industrial network, the SWM281 connects PLC controllers, HMI panels and SCADA servers via separate VLAN segments. Optional Profinet Class B conformance and EtherNet/IP support enable direct integration into existing automation networks. MRP ring redundancy as both client and manager protects the network topology against single connection failures.
